BAWF 2024
British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF)
has unfortunately had to take a back
seat during 2024 due to a ■■■ deploy-
ment year for The Regiment. That being
said, however, members of QDG haven’t
been shy to participate in fitness events
wherever possible. LCpl Williams and Tprs
Njoya and Hamlet, from A Sqn, went to
Birmingham and attended the “Battle for
Centre” sports festival. They competed in
a 4 stage multi fitness event ranging from
the curve runner and power bag carries
to deadlifts and shoulder press. As a team
of 3, within a 4-man team competition,
they finished a very respectable 3rd place
overall! During Op CABRIT 15, B Sqn SSM
WO2 McKinnon and Sgt Thomas created
a fitness challenge to keep the Sqn moti-
vated, aptly named “Elite Dragoon”. Which
included; 2km row, 5km run, dead lift,

squat, shoulder press, bench and pull
ups. Weights and times required were
dependant on the age and weight of the
competitor on the day. All exercises were
to be completed within a 24hour period.
During the 6 month tour, only 1 person was
successful! Furthermore, 20 members of
B Sqn took part in Hyrox Gdansk. Hyrox
has taken the fitness world by storm, a
very popular fitness event completing 8
different exercise stations separated by
8 1 km runs. Running the competition in
pairs, Sgts Bould and Thomas set the best
time of the 10 groups with a very compet-
itive time of 1 hr 8 minutes. Although this
year has unfortunately not contained any
BAWF specific events, Sgt Casey and Cpl
Phillips have now taken the reigns and
keen to hit the ground running in 2025.
