REPAIR,
RECYCLE
Oundle Repair Cafe
Is there something you love - but can’t use at all or properly because it needs some fixing or repairs? Something which has practical value, yet it isn’t commercially viable to have repaired? Or just something which has
great sentimental value, and you’re not
sure it can be fixed?
Help may be at hand! The Oundle Repair Cafe opens again for business between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 22nd July at Fletton House. Part of
a worldwide movement, the Repair Cafe ethos is that we would rather see things repaired and/or recycled, than discarded.
Since April 2022, when we restarted after COVID, the Cafe has saved several tons of item from being discarded and contributing to landfill. In that time it has fixed dozens of items from delicate jewellery or clothes repairs, through bikes and clocks and digital radios, to trains sets, chair and vacuum cleaners. There are few things which we will not at least assess for repairs – although
microwaves is one – and we are happy to work with you to see whether the problem can be fixed by our gifted volunteers, needs attention from an

expert, or just can’t be fixed. And whilst you wait, we have
delicious cakes available to buy, along with tea or coffee. We don’t charge for repairs, although do ask for donations so we can continue with this work.
We’re also looking to widen our talent pool – if you have an afternoon to spare once every quarter and believe that repair and recycling is a good thing, please let the Repair Cafe
organisers know. That’s especially so if you are a seamstress or good with repairing clothes. There’s a real demand for that kind of work...
Whether you have something to repair or something to contribute – just email us at repaircafe@transitionoundle.org.uk and we’ll be in touch.
