Alpine Skiing
The 40th year of Exercise White Knight saw 10 members of the QDG return to Verbier for the annual Royal Armoured Corps ski camp. The team was made up of an experienced A team and a novice B team which balanced the need to be compet- itive and introduce new members to the sport. The A team was the strongest the QDG has fielded in a long time and the team were eager to see QDG Alpine back at the top of Corps Skiing. Lts Seales and Swailes, both strong skiers but with no racing experience, worked hard during the gate training to go head- to-head with experienced ski racers. Tprs Lingwood and Foster, both novices, picked up the sport with ease and coupled it with an equally ferocious appetite for après ski. The annual Christmas Day party at La Chaux was a highlight that all those who attended enjoyed, even if they struggled to remember it afterwards. The QDG performed a stunt in the jumps competition which involved the B team lying down behind a jump and the A team jumping over them. The crowd was impressed but unfortunately, as we were also the judges, we couldn’t award the prize to ourselves. The QDG were crowned RAC champions at the end of the race week, thus breaking an unbeaten run of form by the RTR.
