The events which occurred in Nestonbrook were horrible, but Jake wasn’t allowed to tell his side of the story. He had to lie to protect the Morris brothers, otherwise Mrs Morris threatened to expose his mum for receiving stolen property. Jake was punished for his mum’s greedy nature and stupidity.
Now his mum was intent of hurting the Goodwin family and he thought her plan was despicable; they had suffered enough. He didn’t want anything to do with it. Her days of calling him John Collins were over. Now, his name was Jake Cooper and he was proud of it.
