100th SUMMER SHOW
Horticultural Society
As the weather improves and the days grow longer, the Oundle Horticultural Society (OHS) committee are finalising their plans for their 100th Summer Show.
The location has changed for 2023 to provide easier access and parking for all their patrons and visitors. This year the show will be held
at The Acre, Oundle School Sports Centre, on Saturday 15th 2.30-6pm and Sunday 16th July 2pm-5.30pm. Plans are being
made for some special events to celebrate this very auspicious occasion.
OHS are very pleased to
announce that Matthew
Biggs will be hosting an
informal Gardeners’
Question Time during
Sunday afternoon’s show, before presenting the prizes at the end of the show.
Matthew is a gardener, writer, and broadcaster, with over 40 years’ experience
in horticulture. He ran a garden design and maintenance business, has been a TV presenter on various gardening programmes, and a panellist on BBC4’s ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ since 2004. With a passion for plants and plant history, he is currently a Royal Horticultural Society Floral Judge at the Chelsea Flower Show, so do come along to meet him and have all your gardening questions answered!
Schedules will be available from Oundle
Library, The Barn Garden Centre, Fletton House,
Little Blue Haberdashers and on the website. So, this is a great time to
start planning and growing.
There are so many classes for you to enter –
and lots for children too.
• Classes for adults include: flowers, vegetables,
fruit, cookery and preserves, floral decorations, handicrafts, art, photography, sculpture pottery, and woodwork.
• Classes for children include: art, craft, cookery, photography classes, story and poetry writing, a seed tray garden, and a jam jar of garden flowers.
So, something for everyone! There are over 20 cups and awards to be won, and small cash prizes, so do not delay – start planning today!
We look forward to welcoming your entries and you, your family and friends, at our two day show on 15th and 16th July.
