Rowing Competition London Central

On the 16th February 2022 London Central Dental Centre took part in the Garrison’s rowing competition. Our participation consisted of LCpl London taking part in the individual 2km event in the morning and the Dental Centre team, made up of LCpl London, Sgt Gurung and I, taking part in the team 5km in the afternoon.
Registration took place at 10:00 that morning with the individual rowing commencing at 10:30 once competitors had been divided into weight categories from lightweight to heavyweight. LCpl London’s performance in the event was outstanding, she won her competition with flying colours with a time of 12 minutes and 20 seconds, well ahead of all other female competitors.
Once the morning had come to an end it was time for the team 5km race. Competing against 7 other teams, the Dental Centre was ready to shine! After practicing change- overs on the rowing machine, we thought this would give us the advantage. Sadly,
all the other teams had practised this prior
to the event and we didn’t get the memo.
We finished in a respectable 5th place. The awards ceremony took place after the team competition where LCpl London received her well-deserved 1st place medal for her category delivered by Lt Col Hunter CO London District. A day enjoyed by all!
