SPACES
Oundle Town Council
With the cost of living seemingly ever on the rise, Oundle Town Council once again this winter, figuratively (but not literally!), has opened its doors to residents who want to find a warm space.
As part of the national ‘Warm Welcome Warm Space’ programme, in 2022, our Hub Manager Morag signed us up as a facility that welcomes residents to come and use the Hub facilities and stay warm. The Hub is open each weekday from 9am-2pm, and many regulars stay longer than that. It’s easy to make a good cuppa (including from the ‘bean to cup’ coffee machine), nibble on a biscuit, and perhaps best of all, chat to others who are making use of
the space. This provides many with not only a much needed break from heating bills but also
a chance for a natter – or perhaps a “knit” if you want to join in with the Yarn Bombers, who use the same space on Friday afternoons. Morag has
noticed that a good number of people tend to drop in for some warmth, to read a book, or a change of scene. A couple of regulars state “We love coming to the Hub – it’s a great place to watch the world go by!”
Mayor Ian Clark adds “From Oundle Town Council’s point of view, it’s wonderful to open our facilities up to residents – and many take the chance to pop across to the Surgery or grab a book from the Library, or make use of the banking support facilities offered by Barclays on Monday and Friday each week”.
Book an appointment with Barclays: www. barclays.co.uk/branch-finder/local/oundle Best of all now, it’s possible to book a lift in on a warm minibus as part of the Shire Connect local bus service – ring 01933 228844 to book a ride to and from The Hub.
