Dane Harbinson is the regular watchman, in fact he has been trading on Oundle market for 37 years, with his canine companions Katie, Molly and Beetie.
When was your business established? D. R. Harbinson Watches and Clocks was established in 1987.
What made you choose Oundle? I love Oundle as it’s such a friendly market town.
Tell us more... I am a tractor mechanic by trade, but I changed my career to fixing watches. My brother-in-law taught me how to fix them and I love it – been doing it ever since.
Any colleagues or do you go it alone? Just me and my dogs.
Highlight of your day? Every day is different – but the highlight will always be chatting to my regular customers and meeting new ones.

Most challenging part of the job? Adverse

What makes D. R. Harbinson Watches and Clocks different? I like to think it’s my good old fashioned personal service.
Any future ambitions? Yes, to pass my successful business on to my sons.
Proudest moment? It will be when I achieve my above ambition.
What brings you joy? Seeing my regulars.
Something people don’t know about you?
I’m currently learning basic Slovene language. Anything else to say? I’ve seen the market
trade decline badly since covid. I’m forever hopeful that the people of Oundle will embrace the Thursday market once more and start using its traders again.
