SIGHT SUPPORT
Mobile service
For people who begin to lose their sight, the prospect of travelling, especially in order to seek help, can be extremely stressful. That’s why NAB introduced our Mobile Sight Centre (MSC); Reaching out across the county with support, advice, and equipment to those living with visual impairment in our community.
So, who are NAB?
We are Northamptonshire’s sight
loss charity and we work to ensure
visually impaired adults, children and
families within the county can live
life to the full. With 23,000 people in Northamptonshire living with sight
loss, this might seem like a tall order,
but we have a 125 year head start!
Since being founded in 1896, we have
gained an in-depth understanding
of how to offer support effectively and reach out to those who need us. We have staff stationed in hospitals, available to visit people in their homes, and at our new office with comprehensive training facilities. All of this ensures we can make a positive impact whether someone has just received a diagnosis, or has been visually impaired for decades.
Sight loss can happen to anyone at any age, and the biggest impacts to someone’s life
might not be what you expect. Obviously, daily tasks like food preparation and travel become much more difficult, but the affect can often
be greatest on someone’s independence and social life. That’s why we offer social groups, befriending, and one off trips to amazing

places; Services which would not
be possible without the help of our incredible volunteers. It’s this sense
of togetherness which gives us focus and drives us to offer the best support to visually impaired people across the county.
How can you access our services?
The MSC has recently visited Fletton House in Oundle, and will be returning again on 15th August and 21st November from 11:00am – 13:00pm. Whatever sight loss information you
are seeking, our team offers expert advice and information about sight related issues, including making direct referrals on your behalf. The MSC is free to access and no booking is required, so why not pay us a visit?
