Summer fun...
  The Summer Reading Challenge
is on it’s way!
This summer Oundle Library will once again be part of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge!
The Reading Agency’s annual Summer Reading Challenge is a fantastic free activity for children aged 4-11 that improves reading skills and confidence. Children can read whatever they enjoy, collecting special rewards along the way. They’ll be able to take part at the library or online at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk.
The aim of the challenge is to read six or more stories over the school holidays to gain stickers that complete a story mission. Once
all the stickers for reading have been awarded, each child receives a certificate of completion and a medal! It is a popular initiative which is always well supported by our local schools, and last year Oundle library had a fantastic number of children take part. The theme this year is
‘Marvellous Makers!’ which
is all about creativity. From dance to drawing, junk modelling to music,
there’s something for everyone! Developed
in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need
it most, Marvellous Makers aims to unleash children’s creativity through the power of reading. The Challenge starts on Saturday 22nd June in Scotland and online, and on Saturday 6th July in England and Wales. You can sign
up for the challenge at Oundle Library from Saturday 20th July.
Alongside the challenge, Oundle Library will be running lots of exciting creative activities over the Summer. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates www.facebook.com/oundlelibrary
Single Parent Friendship Group starts at Oundle Library
We are very excited to share that a regular Gingerbread
Single Parent Friendship Group has started at Oundle Library. These sessions are a chance to meet local single parents in a fun and informal environment. Groups are free to attend with refreshments provided. Feel very free to bring along your children as there will be colouring and activities provided. These are drop-in sessions so there is no need to book, but if you would like further information please contact Jemma, who runs the group, by emailing oundle.libraryplus@ northnorthants.gov.uk.
The meet ups take place on the third Wednesday of the month at 3.45pm.
