  Eastern Region report
As I am writing this report the weather is fantastic – hotter than the Mediterranean. I keep thinking that I have missed spring and gone straight into the summer. However, I am sure that some cold wet weather is just around the corner. It has helped to get plots ready for sowing, or in some cases seeds and plants have already been planted.
I am happy to report the East Anglian Potato Day held on Saturday 9th February 2019 at the Mid-Suffolk Showground, Stonham Barns, was a resounding success. Well done to all. Also, the South East Essex Potato Day held on Saturday 23th February 2019 at Growing Together, Westcliff-on-Sea, was also a great success; many thanks

So much
more than a
Flower Show!
Attractions for all ages including impressive displays of vegetables, fruits and flowers from our amateur exhibitors in the Severn Marquee, stunning floral arrangements, advice from our celebrity gardener David Domoney, exciting arena entertainment for all the family, food, crafts & trade stands, cookery demonstrations by TV chef John Torode; live music both evenings and all topped off with world class fireworks.

to all who attended. It shows that vegetable growing is not on the decline.
A lot of people, when mentioning the ‘B’ word, seem to think of doom and gloom. It is up to all of us to make the best of what is happening. My thoughts go to fresh local fruit, vegetables, fish and meat. We should be supporting our local growers and farmers, to say what a great country we live in.
I am looking forward to a good summer with successful harvesting, and also full and new allotment sites being formed. Happy growing and stay positive. Please support our region and help it grow stronger.
