Lottery Grant
Last November, Bradmore Gardens Allotments applied to the National Lottery Community Fund for a possible grant for eight new metal sheds and concreted bases at our allotment site. As secretary, I knew we needed some new sheds, as others were very old, leaking and not a good image as you entered the site. I must admit I really didn’t expect to get a grant, not having ever applied for any funding in my life before! I applied and it came out of the blue in early 2022 that we had been successful getting a £8944 cheque!! This paid for eight metal sheds, bases and, of course, the builders’ labour costs.
We have now got these sheds all built, looking great and the builders did an amazing job in quick time. It has improved the site no end and it gives extra plots too, as we divided a few into two because we had a demand for more plots.
Our Parish Council were instrumental in helping us, with a letter, as you need so much proof you are genuine to get a grant.
It gives hope to small associations like ours to get grants, not just larger organisations.
