 10 CRUISING REPORTS
 RSYC CRUISING IN 2020 –
SET YOUR DIARIES NOW!
The season will be busier than can be imagined at this time of the year as the gales shoot through from the Jet Stream. However, Spring has sprung, and covers are lifted, sails un-furled and engines tuned ready for 2020 to get underway.
The Easter Rally begins as tradition dictates with a Safari Supper at East Cowes on 10th April. We will then head west toYarmouth on Saturday night, and then see what the Easter Bunny has hidden at Gins on Sunday the 13th.
PortsmouthVE Day is the May Bank Holiday Weekend from 8th to 10th May.The salute to VE will be shared on the pontoon at Haslar Marina with the opportunity
to take a ferry into Portsmouth for the festivities.
May 28th to 30th is booked for Cherbourg to sample the Cross-Channel experience for sail and motor alike. Many restaurants offer a welcome sample of French fare but don’t forget trollies need to be returned to Carrefour.
The Gins Summer Party is on 4th July, so
we think the chance for hot dogs, burgers and baseball will be a great start to this year’s Mayflower 400th anniversary celebrations.
A two-week summer cruise is an open invitation for cruisers to arrive in Deauville for Bastille Day. Lots of possible routes are available but we’re suggesting eastwards
to Brighton after the July 4 party, cross to France for the 14th and fireworks, then back along the Normandy Coast returning as and when!
Island Harbour is booked for the last night of Cowes Week on 14th August for BBQ and fireworks.
2020 is the 400th anniversary of the departure of the Mayflower to set up a
new life in what we now know as America. RSYC has proposed a Parade of Sail down Southampton Water on Sunday 16th August
