RNLI Calshot, our local Lifeboat Station, express thanks to the Cruisers
for raising £355 at the Laying Up Supper in November 2019 and highlight below the important work that they do, and what the money raised may go towards.

The Lifeboat Operations Manager, Diane Carrier says:“We run a busy lifeboat station and, as volunteers, we give a lot of our time to ensure the boats, kit, and crew, are ready to launch whatever the weather, at any time, to any situation. It means a huge amount
to us when local organisations raise money to support the work that we do, and we are extremely grateful for the efforts and kind donation from the Cruisers”.

Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Station was opened in 1970 and is run entirely by a volunteer crew.The management team helps to run the station, the Deputy Launch Authorities work with the Coastguard to coordinate the lifeboats to launch; the shore crew launch and recover the lifeboats, and the boat crew head out into life-saving situations.All
these volunteers give their time to help the RNLI’s mission to save lives at sea.
At Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Station, one
of the busiest stations in the country, the volunteers train twice a week to ensure they are prepared and ready for any call that may come in.They often stop what they’re doing at home or at work to respond to the pager 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
It costs nearly £100,000 a year to operate Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Station alone.
This includes fuel and equipment for the lifeboats and essential kit for the volunteer
