Pollinator Strategy
In the autumn Defra is planning
to publish the National Pollinator Strategy for England, and along with it some initial detailed advice on how to manage different types
of land to support pollinators. Then the Wildlife Trusts are hosting the “Bees Needs” campaign http:// www.wildlifetrusts.org/Bees-needs, which lists five steps all gardeners can take to help boost the success of bees and other pollinators.
Grow more flowers, shrubs and trees
Let patches of land grow wild
Cut grass less often
Do not disturb insect nests and hibernation sites
Think carefully about whether to use pesticides.

Not Just Greenfingers
Not Just Greenfingers is a stay at home
mum with a wonderful husband and two lovely daughters aged 15 and 13. They live on an ordinary street, in a 1930’s semi- detached house in Leicester, UK. She has four allotments and grows most of her own fruit and vegetables. She makes her own bread and cooks from scratch whenever possible. She makes jam, pickles, chutneys, apple juice, etc and cleans the old-fashioned way using vinegar, lemon juice and bi-carb.
