Calverton Horticultural Show Saturday 6th September 2014
Calverton Horticultural Society Show fell by the wayside for many years following the collapse of the annual leek show in the early 1990s.
During the millennium year, Calverton Allotment Association put on a Horticultural show at the Calverton Miners Welfare sports field. Thanks to the Parish Council and a number of dedicated volunteers, the annual show has gone from a few exhibits to over 200.
Calverton and Woodborough Allotment Association have given its full backing to the show and many of the exhibitors are association members. Since 2003
we have actively put up an N.S.A.L.G. stall giving out leaflets and encouraging members of the general public to join our association.
This year’s show had a steady stream of visitors from villages in and around Calverton. Every year we see an increase in exhibitors and public, and this year has been no exception, the best yet! It’s thanks to those dedicated volunteers that want to keep the spirit of Horticultural shows alive in villages in Nottinghamshire, that we owe a debt of gratitude.
