To conclude, the rapid regrowth of our core business enabled us to increase our charitable disbursement to over 2,100 individual grants, totalling £125,316. This represents a significant increase on 2021 and was, in fact, our best ever total. The breakdown of our disbursement for 2022 was as follows:
tions to training with, in December, grants pro- vided to Officer Cadets from CC213, CC221 and CC222 for Adventurous Training expeditions. The reports of some of them are earlier in this edition.
We continue to provide the Sandhurst Medal for International Cadets, with well over 1,100 now possessing the award. The Academy has now permitted those who were commissioned from short courses to receive the medal. The Trust has processed several individual orders in addi- tion to those cadets presented with their medal by the Commandant.
International Cadets are now allowed to wear their Sandhurst medal on their No 1 dress for the Sovereign’s Parade, bringing a huge sense of pride and achievement.
The Trust continued to support life at Sandhurst. The International Pace Sticking competition was, as ever, a hard-fought event which again was enhanced by a team from The Royal Hospital, and, back after an absence during the Pandemic, the high-stepping team from the Pakistan Army.
The Trust ran three Commissioning Balls dur- ing year, with Cadets and their guests dancing to one of the contemporary music ensembles from one of the Army bands. The time-honoured unveiling of the Second Lieutenant pips at mid- night is still the highlight of the night.
In conclusion, The Trust thrived during 2022 as clients returned to the Academy to hold corpo- rate events. The staff and volunteers upped their game to run over 150 events resulting in record disbursement. If this continues, I will be writing that the charity is ‘sprinting’ next year.

As you can see, the majority of our disbursements was focused on welfare, with the lion’s share going to grants for International Cadets. Through- out the year, we supported those Internationals who were forced to remain at Sandhurst. In addi- tion to a small grant, The Trust supported activi- ties during recess such as visits to The London Eye and theatre tickets to see Wicked.
Finally, on the welfare front, The Trust continues to support Officer Cadets injured and awaiting full return to fitness in Lucknow Platoon. One event was a trip to Bletchley Park, and another to the National Memorial Arboretum.
The charity also supported Intermediate Term cadets going off on Adventurous Training expedi-
