the FOB. Where we were staying, with 75% of us covered in all thing’s cookery based, we cleaned ourselves off, stacked up at the gate and got ready to push back out again. Learn- ing to keep going again after being defeated is a crucial part of being a British Army Officer and I felt that Ex TEMPLER’S TRIUMPH reinforced this excellently.
During the civilian population role, we immersed ourselves into our roles, which ranged from lum- berjacks and tea farmers to magistrates and local police forces. Although incredible fun, this phase allowed a unique insight into the life of a civilian in conflict, as well as an insight into what could be done better whilst working as a security force in an urban area. We observed the oppos- ing company, analysing and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses in the complex and demanding situations they faced. This proved highly advantageous when we moved into our second phase.
Ex TEMPLER’S TRIUMPH was certainly a high- light of the Commissioning Course so far. For some who’ve never fought before, it allowed a
taste of a blood pumping adrenaline rush, as well as allowing for some to learn controlled aggres- sion and when and how to utilise this. It allowed us to develop our expertise and teamwork in highly demanding complex environments whilst learning how to operate an Ops room, simulta- neously dissecting, and disseminating human terrain intelligence. Having completed Ex TEM- PLER’S TRIUMPH, CC212 now progressed onto our final exercise, Ex DYNAMIC VICTORY, held in southern Germany, which encompasses all we have learnt through our 39 weeks so far.
