Ex IRON STRIDE (Ex IS) was the largest AT package run by the KRH in recent memory, with 246 KRH soldiers and offic- ers deployed over a three-week period in June 2021. Following the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, the exercise took place across the UK with canoeing, hill walking, kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing situated in Snowdonia National Park; sky diving at Netheravon Airfield; sailing out of JSASTC Gosport and throughout the Solent (see separate sailing article); and a mix of water-sports including wind surfing and dingy sailing at Thorney Island (see separate sailing article).
Mountain Leader, Capt Simon Lamb RA, kindly prepared a jour- nal entry giving details for the 5-day hill walking exercise he led in week 3 of Ex IS. LCpl House, Tpr Manickum, Tpr Taylor & Tpr Vowles joined Capt Lamb, where they achieved their Summer Mountain Foundation qualification.
