Thrapston Baptist Church

We are pleased to be a part of the recently formed Thrapston FoodBank, which was started up as a result of the Raunds and Thrapston Volunteers distributing the ‘Holiday Hunger’ free school lunches over the summer holidays.
Our previous food bank (Bridge of Grace) was closed at the end of 2016 because there were no eligible clients coming forward to make use of it. Covid has changed all that and the need in Thrapston is very evident.
We are working closely with the Raunds and Rushden food banks – all under the umbrella of East Northants Community Services (East Northants Faith Group). This gives us the advantage of not only sharing goods and donations with them, but also using their expertise in assessing clients and being able to tap into other resources such as form filling, benefits advice, debt counselling, job seeking and parenting classes.
We have been overwhelmed by the support and generosity of Thrapston folk both in terms of donations and volunteering to help. Thank you all so much.
For more information, and details on
how you can help by volunteering or donating check out our church website (www.thrapstonbaptist.co.uk) under the Community Life – Community Groups tab, or the Thrapston FoodBank Facebook page (facebook.com/ThrapstonFoodBank/)
Although we did manage a socially distanced picnic in our church garden one Sunday lunchtime, we are still not meeting at the church for worship services, so our live online zoom meetings are still available for all to log in to – go to the church website: (www.thrapstonbaptist.co.uk) and click
on the link to the worship services. If you can’t make the service time, a recording is available on the website too: (https://www. thrapstonbaptist.co.uk/podcasts)

Mass in Thrapston will take place at 11.30am on Sundays and at 10am on Thursdays but please check the parish newsletter for weekly updates: www.ourladyofwalsinghamcorby.org
Recommendations have been issued
by the Government and by the Bishop’s Conference though these change regularly. At the time of writing (8th Sept) congregation members are advised:-
• Numbers are limited so please obey the Stewards
• One-way system is to be observed
• Please keep social distance – 1 metre+ will be
enforced
• Please wear a face covering or mask
• Members of the congregation are not allowed
to sing. Background music will be played by the
organist keeping his social distance.
• Holy Communion will be dispensed after the
final blessing in silence after which people will
immediately leave the church.
• Holy Communion is only permitted on the hand with
arms fully extended. Please do not say ‘Amen’.
For the time being the Sunday obligation
is suspended so if you are not confident enough to come to public Mass with all the rules and regulations, don’t worry. Please stay at home and tune into Mass online and use this prayer: My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot
at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit myself to be parted from you. Amen.
Don’t forget to log onto the website to keep in touch with up to date arrangements.
If you would like to ring Fr David or Canon Michael for any reason, even just for a chat or a prayer, please do so on 01536 203121.
