 Report
from West
Midlands DA
Owing to the Covid-19 situation we had to cancel our AGM and February meeting, but the existing committee agreed to carry on. However, we could do with a couple more people to join us on the committee if anyone wants to volunteer. Meanwhile
we hope to hold our May meeting the last Thursday in the month if restrictions allow.
The committee is planning our stand to be held at the June Gardeners World Live event at the NEC . The theme of our stand will be growing in containers and we aim to demonstrate that you can grow unusual vegetables in containers as well as the normal types of vegetables. With this in
mind, we are growing Welsh Onions, Elephant Garlic, Soft Neck Garlic, along with Herbs and even plants such as Comfrey for their leaves to be used as fertiliser. I am also growing lots of Pepper Plants, some for display and some to sell at the NEC.

Bucks DA Report
The Bucks DA I suspect, as the rest of the DA’s, has had a very difficult time with no talks, garden visits, etc. all being cancelled or postponed. On top of all this gloom, the rain
in this area has been relentless
and most of the local allotment
sites are unworkable and Wingrave community orchard, which is on the allotments, is flooded and we are on top of a hill.
With the daylight lengthening, hope is round the corner and by the time that you read this which will be mid- April, I am sure we will all be looking at the future more positively. This is reflected in the delivery dates being quoted by seed merchants; with more people asking for vegetable seeds there has been a longer wait. This must represent an opportunity for the DA to expand its membership.
John Branham Chairman
SATURDAY 12TH JUNE 2021
QUAINTON MEMORIAL HALL, BUCKS, HP22 4BW AT 2.00 PM
In the hope that we are able to hold a face-to-face group meeting, the AGM has been delayed this year and will be held in June instead of March. If restrictions are
still in place, it will be held by other means which will be posted on the NVS website so please keep watching the website or contact the Branch Secretary, June Davies, nearer the time. Nominations for positions should be sent to the Secretary in writing, with
a proposer and seconder, by Friday 14th May 2021. Tel: 01531 822750. Email: june. davies03@btinternet.com. 108 Watery Lane, Newent, Gloucestershire, GL18 1PY.
