If you haven’t been to The Chequered Skipper, which is nestled on picturesque Ashton Green, for a while then maybe you should.
Things have definitely changed. And for the

better. The magnolia walls have gone, replaced with a tasteful refurbishment carried out during lockdown. And they are now open 7 days a week too!
The Skipper is now under a new management team of April McCully who has been joined by her son Wayne Carmichael. Wayne is particularly keen to welcome a younger audience, with plans already laid for a Champagne and cocktail bar on the roof-top terrace.

Within a very short drive from Oundle, or a pleasant 25 minute walk, The Skipper is closer than you think. Welcoming walkers, cyclists, bikers as well as your four-legged friends who are made very welcome too, including a dog station which is available even when they are closed.
In addition to the excellent food, prepared by head chef Hayleigh Webb and her team, you can enjoy a Steak night every Wednesday evening, and breakfasts are now also served on Saturday mornings. The Skipper enjoys its own events/ wedding venue called The Butterfly Suite. The
