of our ‘Staycation’ Summer. The Island Harbour Rally in August, always a challenge for the BBQ with the British weather, was replaced at the last minute with a successful impromptu gathering at Gins instead.
Thankfully, 2021 wasn’t as dramatic
as the Cruising season of 2020, and we
have enjoyed full bookings and amenable conditions. There has been a healthy mix of power and sail boats with a warm welcome to new members at each event. Foundations are laid for 2022 and RSYC Cruising can look forward to widening its horizons and opportunities across the club. Cruising
has been struck with the loss this year of Stephen Parry and Rex Woodgate, both of whom contributed so much to planning
and developing our enjoyment on the water. New ideas and energies are essential and never more than now as post-Covid options become available.
The Newsletter has helped us keep in touch with the many aspects of RSYC
with its central focus on boats, water, social, sport and adventure, so our special thanks
go to Brian Verstage, our Editor, for keeping us in touch. GroupMe provides instant connections both on and off the water, so if you haven’t yet, get the app and sign up with Membership.
Wonderful opportunities lie ahead to combine racing, cruising, cadets and social across future events. Help us make RSYC Cruising what you expect of a premier Yacht Club and come forward to make that happen.
Happy Cruising!
