                                FROM THE BRIDGE
Welcome to this latest edition of The Yachter. Lauren has summed up our present outlook as well as I could have done in her ‘From the Wheelhouse’ piece, so I won’t repeat those sentiments. I would add though, that a particular regret is that we’ve been unable in the past months to organise events to welcome our many new members. This must be one of our highest priorities as soon as circumstances allow.
Members, new and old, are of course
the lifeblood of any club such as ours, and represent a huge pool of knowledge and experience. I would urge all of you who’ve not already thought of doing so, to consider becoming involved in your Club’s committees and leadership. You will be made very welcome. It’s a very rewarding thing in itself, and a great way to meet more of your fellow members
by becoming more involved in the Club’s racing, cruising, dinghy sailing, social events and more.
The publication deadline for this edition fell before Cowes Week where once again your Club will be fielding one of the strongest teams of race officers, so a report will have to wait for the next edition. Our team should, of
course, have been led by Stephen Parry whose untimely death in May shocked us all. On our Trophy Day at Cowes we will present a trophy to the J70 class in Stephen’s memory.
This edition is once again packed with many contributions from all corners of the Club. I hope you find it as interesting as I have.
