Ryder Brow CAS celebrations!
On Sunday 20th October 2024, we celebrated the official opening of Ryder Brow Pocket Park; one of our fantastic Green Spaces Fund projects. 45 attendees came along to see the transformed space which has been developed over the last 12 months by Ryder Brow Community Allotment Society.
The centrepiece of the day was this amazing new sculpture of the Greater Manchester Environmental Fund (GMEF) logo, which was carved with a chainsaw by Sorin Iosipescu, a Bolton-based wood carver. We also ate some incredible
Caribbean food including homegrown callaloo and enjoyed some autumnal sunshine. A brilliant day all round, and a great demonstration of what the Green Spaces Fund is all about: transforming green spaces, bringing communities together, and sharing our successes.
Happy Halloween! Pumpkin Celebration Day on Sunday, 27th October 2024. Our Grants Assistant Danielle recently attended a Pumpkin Celebration event at Ryder Brow Community Allotment Society - look at that beautiful pumpkin she painted!
Danielle said:“It was great to meet the
members of Ryder Brow Community Allotment Society. Marva and Rachel
gave engaging demonstrations of how to use every part of a pumpkin and how to begin your own compost bin. It was clear how much hard work the volunteers have put into taking ownership of the allotments and the Pocket Park to make it a bright, attractive and safe space for the community.”
Hope you all had a spook-tacular day
