SKI TOURING IN THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES
MARCH 2018
Throughout 1915 and 1916 Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces battled for control of the summit of Col di Lana (2452m). These fierce battles included conventional assaults, tunnelling and mining leading to heavy losses on both sides; 278 Italians died due to avalanches alone.
