38 (IRISH) BRIGADE, NORTHERN IRELAND
WO2 (QMSI) A Richmond RAPTC
38 (Irish) Brigade maintains its unrelenting focus on operations in Northern Ireland. Concurrently the Brigade takes on the role of an Adaptable
Force Brigade; with the 2 regular Infantry units (1 SCOTS and 2 Ri es) and the Army Reserve Infantry unit (7 Ri es) being heavily involved in operations in South Sudan, Malawi, Iraq, Kenya and Jordon. The Northern Ireland Garrison Support Unit has reformed and now supports the main three locations in N.I. The pace in Northern Ireland continues to move at an increasing speed.
Sport continues to play a vital role in Northern Ireland
with all units supporting the sports xtures laid on by
the RAPTCIs and Sport Secretaries. The Regional
Command Indoor Rowing League has had a big impact across Northern Ireland with all units taking up the month challenges.
Units have taken full advantage of the Defence Occupational Fitness Programme (DO t) incentive; WO2 (QMSI) Russ Hughes is the province Defence Health and Wellbeing Advisor, his enthusiasm for the delivery of the course is remarkable, QMSI
Hughes has commenced two DO t courses over the past 6 months and is scheduled to run a third course in Apr 17.
After my service as a regular solider and a small stint with the Army Reserve, I was delighted to take up role as the 38 (Irish) Brigade WO PD [FTRS]. With the help of the highly energetic SO3 Capt (MMA) Lisa Dunne, I have quickly settled in to the post. Lisa sadly has now resigned her commission and has moved to the dark side, which is a deep lose to 38 (Irish) Brigade and the RAPTC. I along with all the RAPTCI’s she has supported in Northern Ireland wish her the best of luck in her new adventure.
