 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery
Quartermaster (T) Department Bdr D Harris
Another busy year for the Quartermaster Technical depart- ment which has seen us drafted into a plethora of real- life support tasks, exercises and managing the day to day running of the Regimental accounts.
It’s mostly been “work, work and no play”, the department has been busy throughout the year, preparing for major Exercises, EX DYNAMIC FRONT in Germany being one of them. A well- deserved stand down for Summer Leave was eagerly welcomed!
Staff Sergeant Robinson (RFM) has represented the Regiment on several occasions as part of the Regimental Basketball team and Football and carried out numerous driving exams to sup- port Brigade.
Sgt Moore has been part of the Regimental football team and has played in several games, the football team has had a very successful season which also saw them go on tour around the North of England. Sgt Moore now coaches the football team full time which sees him continuing developing players.
Bdr Harris has completed the authorised Ammo Storekeepers course held down in MOD Kineton and completed both SNCO ALDP courses in preparation for his next move to become the Regimental Technical Sergeant.
Corporal Thapa has been busy with managing the Regiment’s driver fitted items and expense accounts to keep the Battery’s’ being able to deploy on exercises and tasks that they are given.
Bdr Harris and LBdr Muelchi had the opportunity to deploy to London in October to work in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office, where they were tasked to assist in the issuing of visas to Afghan nationals who worked and supported the British government.
LBdr Shailemo represented the QM(T) department under 1 RHA in taking part in the 1 Arty Brigade Operational Shooting competition. Despite the weather, the 1 RHA teams performed well overall, coming in 5th and 10th place in Liverpool.
Gnr Kasowaqa has successfully gained her place on the Army Rugby and Netball team. Both fantastic achievements and she is a future sports star to watch out for!
Sadly, we have had to say goodbye to Capt Dallolio and Sgt Moore. Capt Dallolio moves on to become the Regiment Wel- fare Officer, and Sgt Moore to the role of BQMS OHQ Bty. Gnr Williamson spent a short period with the department before expressing his wish to move to the Regimental Aircell - we wish them all the best for the future. We welcome the newly posted Capt Shaw as the new QM(T). He was previously BK G Bty, 7 Para RHA. The QM(T) department also welcomes the new arrival of Gnr Tabulutu posted from E Bty.
As the year is ending, we have the joy of looking forward to the upcoming LEA, which I am sure the regiment will do well in again.
