A coach trip to the National Exhibition Centre was an unusual change from the norm one Sunday in February, when Air Cadets and volunteer staff from 2490 (Spen Valley) and 2387 (Pudsey) Squadrons enjoyed a day out to see the Birmingham Tattoo.
They saw displays of marching, military music from various bands, fancy parade footwork, cannon building, and even doggy flyballing! The event finished with the grand finale: a massive parade of over 1000 performers, set to music and pyrotechnics - a superbly impressive sight to see.
Great show, well worth a visit next year!
     WEEKEND AR- RANGE-MENTS
By Flight Lieutenant Kellyann Martin
Cadets at 2490 (Spen Valley) Squadron have been making the most out of their weekends, their main hall, and their volunteer staff! The main hall at their headquarters in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, doubles up as both an air rifle range and an archery range. The Squadron is very lucky to have both great shooting and archery equipment and keen, qualified staff who love to help them. So the cadets have been learning skills, taking aim, and firing both pellets and arrows with delight... though obviously not at the same time; that would be chaos!
Now the cadets are keen to progress and get some badges for their brassards. They have been reminded of the old adage for everything in life: practice makes perfect!
