The Duke of York’s Royal Military School
is home one of largest Combined Cadet Forces in the country, giving more than 380 pupils annually the chance to try their hand at the three services.
Students experience the excitement and challenges of the great outdoors, testing their team building and leadership skills in ways which simply aren’t possible at home or in the classroom. School facilities for CCF include a 25-metre full bore shooting range, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness trim trail, climbing walls and training areas.
The school, founded in 1803 for orphans of the British Armed Forces, honour their military heritage through ceremonial parades, featuring a magnificent 90-strong Marching Band. Annually, students form an Honour Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, and the military band were privileged to take part in the King’s Coronation.
Opportunities at the school are vast; many students have served as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets and annually the school has seen multiple students awarded full army university scholarships which cover fees and tuition, only 100 are awarded nationally.
Not only do students benefit from vast co-curricular activities such as CCF, but the school also offers academic excellence with students making outstanding progress, receiving amazing grades and moving onto a range of fantastic destinations.
