Armed Forces week is a series of events celebrating the contributions of the Armed Forces community. At the very start of the week on the 17th June D and E companies were in Sheffield and Cleethorpes for their events.
In Sheffield a group of cadets from
Endcliffe Hall represented the Army Cadet
Force on the parade. Cadet Oscar Clarke
was chosen as one of the members of the Guard
of Honour. The cadets and Staff Sergeant Rebecca Montgomery then stayed in the city centre manning a recruiting stand for the rest of the day.
In Cleethorpes there was an impressive turnout of over 90 cadets and 15 adult volunteers, who hosted recruitment stands and displays including Fieldcraft, First Aid, Expedition, Signals and an area for future cadets to try on all their kit and get a quick lesson in how to apply camouflage cream.
The highlight of the event was a parade that saw hundreds of Cadets, Veterans, Horses, Display Teams, Regular and Reserve Forces, and Military Vehicles past and present. The parade marched through the streets of Cleethorpes lined with enthusiastic onlookers from all over the local area and even further afield.
On Armed Forces Day itself, 24th June, several towns and cities held their events. In Rotherham, the detachment represented D company in the town centre. They paraded around the town and took part in the short service within the town square.
It was Cadet Bronte Webster's first parade for armed forces day and it was made extra special as she got to parade with her veteran dad.
Detachment Commander second Lieutenant Louise Gillott said: “They have been practicing really hard at detachment and their efforts really paid off today on parade. They were a credit to Rotherham detachment and the county.”
In Scunthorpe E company were representing the county with a party of nineteen cadets and three adult volunteers.
In Doncaster C Company were on parade for a large event led by The Coldstream Guards; the regiment choosing the occasion to exercise the Freedom of Doncaster. They provided a large marching contingent led by the Band of
The Coldstream Guards. They
were followed by veterans and representatives from other branches of the regular and reserve forces, and of course the Cadet Forces, including

a large part of C Company led by the Corps of Drums.
Major Erica McCabe, OC C Company, said "Well done to everyone. Today was just incredible, we did ourselves proud! You all worked so hard in very hot and sticky conditions! A huge well done to Corps
of Drums and SMI Bowers, you sounded amazing."
Finally another week later at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield, a group of dedicated individuals came together to celebrate and promote the values of the Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force. Attending the Beverley Armed Forces Day event, cadets and adult volunteers showcased their skills and core values, captivating the public with their passion and commitment
The event served as a platform for the cadets and volunteers to engage with the local community and highlight the incredible opportunities and life lessons one can gain from being a part of the Army Cadet Force. With their smart uniforms and exemplary conduct, they exemplified discipline, teamwork, and respect—values instilled within the organisation.
Throughout the day, visitors were shown how
the cadets map read, fieldcraft skills, and first aid techniques, along with information about how cadets take part in the DofE Award, which highlighted the practical skills and knowledge cadets acquire during their training. The cadets and adult volunteers made a genuine effort to connect with the public.
Sergeant Instructor Hannah Cook, Detachment Commander Beverley said: “It’s important for
the cadets to take part in community events, to showcase the amazing things we do. The cadets who
were here today, they did an amazing job and the county proud in promoting the ACF.”
Colonel Fred Owen, Commandant said: "Armed Forces day is one of the highlights of our
calendar when the community and the wider defence family comes together. It
gives us all a chance to showcase the very best in modern
defence together with celebrating our veterans. This includes our cadet
forces across all defence who are embedded in the
community. Our cadet force volunteers and cadets stand
side by side demonstrating
that the skills provide a platform for lifelong leadership,
resilience and tolerance."
