IT’S LINE DANCE TIME!
The date, time and place has been set ... Who will be joining me?
This is a very special class for teenagers and adults, who may have Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, depression, autism, Asperger’s, stress, Downs Syndrome, Parkinson’s, anxiety and many more – including loneliness.
There are many benefits of dance. These include (but certainly aren’t limited to) overall physical fitness and improvements in flexibility, strength, and motor skills, but also an increase in confidence and self-esteem, and is excellent for stress relief. Maybe you are a carer and would need to come along? This would be a good time and place to meet other carers.
The class will be held in St James’ Church Hall, Thrapston 5.30pm till 6.30pm on Tuesdays. £3 for the hour. Same time every week.
Now that summer is
truly here, our thoughts
have been turning
to trips and outings.
Some of our members
recently enjoyed a trip to Althorp, and others are looking forward to an outing to Stamford, for a guided walking tour. Later, we have a trip to Lincoln, one of many organised by our county office.
Looking ahead to our monthly meetings, in September we have a Doodle Clocks craft activity. October, we have a talk
from Thrapston History Society, and in November Gary Smith will be telling us about his trip to the Himalayas.
As well as our monthly meetings, our enthusiastic skittles team is going from strength to strength, meeting every other Wednesday at Islip WMC, start time 7.30pm. Our walking group also continues to meet regularly, whatever the weather. You may spot them after their walk, as they try out the various cafes available in town.
All meetings take place in the Thrapston Baptist Church, and we meet on the first Thursday of the month. Meetings start at 7.30pm and visitors are ALWAYS welcome. Entrance is £5, which includes refreshments. It would be lovely to meet you, so please come along and say hello.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE 2024
The challenge started on Saturday July 20th and will run until the end of September, so there’s still time to join in.
Children, aged 4-12 years old, are challenged to read or listen to 6 books over the summer. These can be physical books, eBooks, Audiobooks or eAudiobooks. They can be library books but any children’s book will be accepted, however the child must be a member of the library service to take part.
Resources will be available in Thrapston Library for the launch and are for children aged 4-12 years old only. They are not
suitable for younger children. If
children under 4 years old want
to be challenged they can take
part in the Bookstart Bear Club
or this year there will be a challenge, similar to the Summer Reading Challenge specially formulated for Preschool aged children.
There are lots of accompanying puzzles and competitions included in the pack and the popular Treasure Hunts have returned too. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the challenge for all competitions held.
Details can be found in the library.
