 QARANC Central Committee Meetings
In accordance with the QARANC Association Constitution, the Chairman of a Branch Committee may attend Central Committee meetings as an observer without voting rights. They may also appoint any member of that Branch Committee to deputise for them on the same terms.
The Central Committee meets four times a year, usually in London, to discuss its business currently under the Chairmanship of Lt Col (Retd) Lesley Wright.
Meetings in 2014 are provisionally scheduled for 22 January, 16 April, 9 July and 8 October. Observers are welcome from the branches – however it is requested that the General Secretary is notified of any requests to attend the meeting to facilitate the appropriate administration. Branches are also reminded that it is their responsibility to meet travel costs.
Lt Col Tess Grieves RRC, Chairman of Aldershot Branch attended the meeting in July 2013 as an observer and wrote the following:
I would like to take a few minutes of your time to quickly tell you about my attendance at a QARANC Headquarters Association Central Committee meeting. After requesting permission I had the pleasure of being able to attend as I was curious as a Branch Chairman to see as a formed Central Committee, what agenda items are discussed and how decisions are made in regards to benevolence etc.
It was a very productive meeting with a full agenda and with several topics discussed such as Chattels, benevolence, requests for grants etc. I was pleasantly reassured that all Serving and Retired QARANC members best interests remain firmly at the heart of the committee and are being cared for with deserving cases being allocated benevolence to assist them with their financial burdens and for the more able, having funds allocated for fun activities such as adventure training and to particpate in representative sport.
I encourage that all Branches try and attend a meeting to experience the positive approach to managing our Serving and Retired members in order to inform your branch members of the continous valuable work peformed by the committee.
