starting position! The sharp eyed may see we were photo bombed by Mo too.
Fortunate enough not only to be invited to instruct on the R SIGNALS Nordic training camp for a couple of weeks but I completed my BASI Nordic course with these legends. As ever, a rewarding experience to see how the skiers evolve from day one,

not being able to move, to racing around world cup courses a few weeks later.
I have had a thoroughly enjoyable year with lots of new opportunities that I doubt I will get again. My turn of the wheel soon comes to an end as I move onto the SMI Sport role. I am sure my replacement WO1 (SMI) J Gordon will have a great time. Good luck and enjoy whatever unique chances come your way!
Ihave been posted to London Central Garrison (LCG) in our capital since Apr 16 and this will be my last article as LCG’s RAPTCI. LCG has recently undergone a re-configuration of its
Unit’s structure and is home to 3 Public Incremental Companies (PDICs), Nijmegan Company GREN GDS, No 7 Company COLDM GDS and F Coy SCOTS GDS. It is also home to the Household Division (HDiv) bands: Welsh Gds band, Scots Gds band, Irish Gds band, Coldstream Gds Band and Grenadier Gds band. The reconfiguration of LCG has seen the 5 Household Division bands come together as their own independent Unit.
State ceremonial and public duties are at the forefront of priorities within this Garrison with physical development a close second. During my tenure I’ve had the privilege of witnessing many of our Queen’s birthday parades. As you can imagine, bringing such a world reaching event to its conclusion takes a lot of hard work and preparation.
Upon completion of the Queen’s Birthday Parade, the PDICs and Band’s rotate through block leave, AT packages, sports and various other PD related activities. This year has seen LCG transition through the Army Physical Training System and through the introduction of the new Physical Employment Standards. The aim this year was to be at the forefront of change and create a philosophy and identity which will continue long after my departure.
A highlight for me this year was running the 2018 Virgin London Marathon on behalf of Tickets for Troops. An experience of a lifetime! Another highlight was delivering training to Tottenham Ladies F.C
In conclusion, I have had another fantastic year at LCG with some great highlights to be fond of. I am looking forward to what the future holds. My aim as always is to maximise opportunity, decrease non-deployable numbers and enhance the overall physical capability of our soldiers.
