   Chairman’s Report – Councillor Craig Wheeler
 As we come out of Christmas and into the New Year we expect to see some frosty and icy mornings and perhaps a sprinkling of snow. Please make sure you all take care on the roads and footpaths when conditions are icy and please use the grit bins around the town when necessary.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year – so what has 2019 got in store for you?

us as a Town Council. We are attending meetings and responding to consultations where we can - the

as from the 1st January we underwent a complete re-structure of committees and working parties and have re-structured
our meeting dates. Full Town Council
will now meet on the second Tuesday of each month. In addition to this we have a Planning & Asset Management Committee who will meet on the first Tuesday of each month; a Finance & Devolution Committee who will meet on the third Tuesday of
each month and an Events & Community Engagement Committee who will meet
on the fourth Tuesday of each month. All meetings will be held at the Town Council Office at 77 High Street and they all start at 7.15pm. All meetings are open to the public and press and we hope to see some of you throughout the year. We also welcome three new members of staff to our existing team: Janis Zakis will work part-time as Facilities Assistant supporting John Ystenes the Facilities Manager; Margaret Ward will work part-time as Assistant Clerk, supporting Linda Marshall the Town Clerk; and Lauren Wheeler will work part-time as Cleaner/ Assistant Caretaker at the Plaza alongside our Caretaker, Steve Caswell. We wish all our new employees every success in their roles.

With my Mayor’s hat on and raising funds for my chosen charity Dementia UK, this weekend we have our ever-popular Quiz ‘n’ Chips. Tickets have sold out and it looks to be a great evening. My next charity event has changed slightly from The Mayor’s Ball to a less informal “Party in the Plaza”. The date is fixed for Saturday 16th March and tickets are now on sale from the Office.
