Hoorah! Thrapston Farmers Market is back on 2nd February!
After taking a break in January, our much- loved farmers market is back on 2nd February from 9am to 1pm on High Street.
Lots of fresh and locally grown and produced food is on offer including fruit, vegetables, meat and bread, cakes, cheeses, pies, preserves and sauces. Coffee, Thrapston honey, deli foods, cider and beer are also available as well as homemade healthy dog food and treats, fresh herbs and plants.
Why use the market?
KNOW WHO MADE YOUR FOOD – many of our stallholders grew, raised and made the food and drink you are buying, so you get to find out how they made it, what is in it and get tips for how to cook and eat it! REDUCE FOOD MILES – food is fresher when it travels less miles to reach you, and it uses up less packaging and less fuel which is good for our environment.
REDUCE PLASTIC – you’ll find many farmers market products are not wrapped in lots of plastic as they haven’t been stored for a long time or travelled far, and they haven’t been machine packaged.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ECONOMY – shopping at a farmers market means you are helping smaller, traditional farms to survive
in an increasingly specialised and intensive farming industry. This keeps the countryside diverse and protects the character of our local landscape as small farms run by local families are able to survive.
EAT LESS PROCESSED FOOD – local
food scores high on quality, and all our
stallholders use as many local ingredients as they can. You can trust that it hasn’t been highly processed so that the flavour is ‘real’ and what’s in the food is natural and most likely better for you than something made in a factory with a long shelf life.
This month you can enjoy fresh crepes cooked to order by The Crepe Cabin – savoury and sweet toppings available! Freshly made hot coffee from Beanies
in their barista van. Mytton Meats will be cooking and serving fresh sausage baps too!
If you haven’t been for a while, or have never been, do come down and take a look at the stalls, try some samples and chat to our friendly stallholders who are so knowledgeable about their products.
The market is a great asset to our community; it’s sociable, it boosts our High Street businesses and brings visitors to our town. Our proceeds go back into the community too, so help keep the market alive and it benefits everyone!
