Proceeds from the Read-a-Thon have traditionally been used to buy books for the school and plant trees throughout
the city. In recent years, the funds have also been used to support disaster relief and other non-profit organizations. A portion of the funds are given to the 6th grade philanthropy effort. The remaining funds were donated to the Boston Public Library to support programming in the newly-renovated Children’s Room.
