   Membership & Involvement
The current membership campaign has a new structure to balance between recruitment and retention. Both are critical to a strong membership base. Membership year to date, regular member retention percentages continue to grow while the number of new regular members written by volunteers does as well, reflecting focus across the state of both recruitment and retention. The number of new regular members written by volunteers won’t immediately increase to reach where the 2013 and prior numbers were, but there should be a steady increase over the next few years to grow regular member numbers.
In July 2019, there was a push for counties to really work the inactive regular member list and reinstate some of those memberships. Between then and the end of the membership year, the inactive regular member number decreased by 559. The hard work of CAMs, members, and regional reps in just those six weeks is reflected in the increase shown in 2019’s member retention percentage. This focus on reaching out to those inactive members, renewing those memberships, and increasing member retention is reflected in this year’s membership campaign structure.
