2018 -2020 MFB Business Plan Interim Final Report
In August of 2016, the MFB Board of Directors held a strategic planning retreat with the following resultant strategic priorities
2018 - 2020 Strategic Priorities
• Communication: Effectively communicate with regular members.
• Member Engagement: Engage more regular members by understanding their needs, values, and effectively
communicating the value of belonging to Farm Bureau.
• Expand Revenue: Expand revenue opportunities by identifying and exploring services of value to current and potential members.
• Leadership Development: Research the need and recommend/initiate a leadership development structure for regular members.
• Farmers in Politics: Proactively surface and retain farmer regular members to serve as political and govern- mental officials who support and promote agriculture.
• Ag Labor: Devise and support solutions to ag labor challenge, increase profitability and productivity, and reduce stress.
• Build Trust in Food Systems.
MFB Management and Staff developed a 2018-2020 Business Plan to align resources behind these priorities. The following Project Teams were created to focus on these priorities:
• Data/Communications
• Advanced Leadership Development
• Members in Politics
• Ag Labor
• Trust in Food Systems
Project teams reported updates for the MFB Board of Directors in June, August, December 2018, June, December 2019, The interim final reports for each of these teams are attached. These reports include objectives com- pleted, work remaining in 2020 and recommendations to management for continued efforts beyond 2020. MFB Management will consider budgetary needs, overall workload and strategic direction of the MFB Board of Directors before approving efforts beyond 2020.
In addition to the efforts of the Project Teams, MFB Staff continued implementation of Business Plan objectives, efforts to meet Legislative priorities and simply meeting the needs of members. Significant actions/achievements since August 2016 and within the 2018-2020 MFB Business Plan include, but are not limited to:
• Continued excellence in Core Programming including Growing Together and Capitol President’s Summit.
• Completed Academy for Political Leadership
• Centennial Celebration
• 2nd FARM Science Lab
• State Study Committee support
• County Relationship Agreement completion.
• County Grant Program
• Ag Leadershio Exchange to Argentina
• Farm Gate Regular Member Publication
• Electronic ID card program
