you come to the Riverside Gardens of York House, where there are statues of water nymphs set around a fountain. A small road bridge lets you cross over into York House where you are met with a sunken garden, which is a rare sight. Just over the wall you can sit and

York House is now the office and chamber of Richmond upon Thames Council. In the past it was owned by a succession of aristocrats, the pretender to the French throne, Phillipe comte de Paris and later by Sir Ratan Tata the Indian merchant prince.
