WE BOUGHT OUR DREAM HOUSE
WITH HELP TO BUY!
Fiancés Cindy Acheampong, a 25-year-old Biomedical Scientist from Bedford, and 27-year-old accountant Samuel Donkor recently purchased their first home together, a stunning four-bedroom detached at Nottinghamshire development Brierley Heath. The couple used Help to Buy to allow them to get established on the property ladder in a good-sized home for their future family.

“My fiancé and I were looking to buy our first home to move into after we get married, somewhere we can start a family,” says Cindy.
“We started looking before the lockdown, so we were able to view a show home. We loved it – we thought it was really stylish and nothing else we’d seen was as nicely designed. It was where our heart was. We expressed our interest then and there. Our sales executive, Julie, has been totally amazing. She really tried to help us understand what we could get for our budget. The service was brilliant, and really informative – I couldn’t stop talking about her when we got in the car!”
Cindy and Samuel are taking advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, which has allowed them to use a five per cent deposit to borrow 20% of the price of their new home. The loan is interest free for five years and is repaid once the property is sold. As a Biomedical Scientist in a hospital, Cindy was also eligible for our 2020 discount scheme for Key Workers. This, combined with Help to Buy, has allowed Cindy and Samuel to personalise their home before they even get in. “We’ve used the extra money to upgrade our flooring and add lighting and amenities – little things that will make our house a home,” says Cindy. “We are so happy and excited.”
