The spare room is a real asset to your home, but are you making the most of this extra space? Here are a few of our favourite ideas to help you transform this often overlooked room.

The multifunctional room
Many spare rooms are often used as a guest bedroom and while this makes sense, the room remains largely unused most of the time. Even worse, the room can become a dumping ground for laundry and other miscellaneous items! A day bed or small sofa bed in the spare room means that you can cater for visitors, while still having the space for a desk, extra wardrobes or toy storage, creating a flexible space that can be used all year round.
Glam room
While a dressing room may seem extravagant, it’s actually a very practical use of your spare room. If you don’t have the space for a dressing table or large wardrobe in your bedroom, a ‘glam room’ can help to organise your clothes, jewellery and accessories. Smart storage solutions will help you to store and rotate your clothes as the seasons change and the addition of a make-up station keeps your beauty products tidy and accessible.
Home gym
Our wellbeing has become a top priority in recent months and what better way to keep on top of your health and fitness goals than with a home gym? Not to mention saving a few pennies on that gym membership! You’ll need to consider the type of equipment that’s suitable, for example some treadmills could prove quite noisy if located on the first floor. Think about the type of exercise you enjoy and invest in a few choice pieces of kit such as free weights, a punch bag, a yoga mat and evenspin bike for all your home workout needs.
