 An Interview with Dovewell...
With mental health and suicides being at an unfortunate high over the last couple of years, and sadly increasing over the pandemic, we decided to reach out to the head instructor at Dovewell, who is extremely experienced in the field of suicides and mental health.
What is your take on the current mental health climate?
Good mental health in the workplace is important for everyone. I strongly believe that all managers should be trained in mental health awareness to recognise the early signs and symptoms of someone who is struggling with their mental health. This enables a quicker recovery for staff and limits the impact of ill-health and reduces the effect on the business.
Mental health is everywhere, not just at work. Lots of children will have thoughts about suicide. We need to shatter the stigma around suicide, equipping a young person and their communities with the skills to respond to suicidal behaviour. Though dramatic, shockingly over two hundred school-age children took their life last year. No one should be alone, and everyone can play a role in preventing suicide
How important is an Emergency First Aid at Work course? (EFAW)
CPR keeps blood and oxygen flowing and increases the chances of survival in those who suffer a cardiac arrest.
Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) are an essential part in trying to save the life of someone. For every minute it takes to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduces. Survival rates greatly increase for cardiac arrest sufferers when a defibrillator is used within the first minute of collapse; the survival rate can be as high as 90%. However, for every minute that defibrillation is delayed, the chances of survival decrease by 7 to 10%
At Dovewell they provide fun and high-quality training. Their courses offered are
