       The following obituary was found by Lynne Chapman.
Heinrich Obermann passed away at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Em- ma Behringer, 721 Front Street, Ft. Mad- ison, at 11 o’clock. Mr. Oberman aged 76 years, 8 months and 3 days.
Mr. Obermann was born in Hesse Darmstadt Germany in 1822 and came to America in 1846. He lived five years in Wheeling, West Virginia, and in 1851 came to Iowa. One year ago he came to Ft. Madison to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Behringer, from Summittville, Iowa. He was a chronic sufferer from diarrhea, his late illness commencing Thursday of last week, from which he gradually went down.
He leaves 5 children and a wife, Mrs. Mary E. Obermann, to mourn his de- mise. The children are: Mrs. Christian Lock, Keokuk; Henry, Summittville; Mrs. Charles Behringer and Mrs. Dan Henry of this city and C.W. of Yarmouth. Also, three brothers and one sister: John Ober- mann of Burlington, Rev. Karl Ober- mann of Muscatine, Fred Obermann of Pleasant Grove and Mrs. Henry Beck of Danville.
Mr. Obermann was one of the oldest settlers of Lee County who are one by one dropping away. He was one of the best types of American-German citizens and held the respect of all. He watched the development of the country and had a part in its growth. His passing will elicit the sympathy of all for the bereaved fami- ly.
The funeral will take place from the residence at 10 o’clock on Wednesday, September 14. Rev. C. Sehauer officiat- ing. Burial in Atlee Cemetery, Ft. Madi- son.
