“My work explores how we interact within an imagined space by juxtaposing interior
to challenge our understanding of what we perceive to be real- ity. As a Haitian-American art- ist, the colors in my paintings evoke the charm and vibrancy of Caribbean pastorals along- side the urgency and layered energy of urban landscapes. The bright and saturated colors of the paintings express the strength and vibrancy of the Haitian people. The paintings resemble a collage because they are influenced by collages created from magazines and also digitally. I allow memories, emotions and present thoughts to influence the abstract shapes in the paintings.”
