notion of using threads seems so natural. Weaving and knitting are ancient human crafts which are a part of our psyche,
and are such familiar metaphors: fabric of life, thoughts being interwoven, lives becoming unraveled, being closely knit, the common thread, etc. The series cel-
ebrates the interwoven threads that form or connect us.
Each piece in my Threads series is a unique, one-of-a-kind bronze, individually made without a mold. The construction of these pieces began with one thread, a single line worked back and forth, in and out. It was integral that the light pass through each face, that each can be seen into and through. I rendered the surfaces loose and varied, par- tially solid and partially drifting away, suggesting people that are here but cannot be completely known. I like that it is a little emotionally unsettling to glimpse just a hint
of a person. A nebulous face offers more room for interpretation. Evoking a somewhat ethereal aura, with a balance between strength and fragility, these metaphors for our lives are a nod to our nature as works in progress.”
