“In the age of cultural cannibalism where everything is brought together and rear- ranged to formulate new identities, I reiterate
classical literatures into contemparized cross-cultural narratives. My current work retells the story of Moby Dick. The cultural diversity of the crewmates, the worldly journey, and mysticism of sea travel are closely related to my experience of being an immigrant. By extending these imageries from paintings to prints that mimic literary illustrations, these prints become ‘paro- dies.’ The contrast between current-day symbols and an old-illustration look, further emphasizes the overlaps in different cultural narratives and how context can get lost in translation.”
