Langer’s love of India began after taking a college course in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. He was quickly hooked, going on
to Harvard University to earn his PhD in Sanskrit and Indian Studies. He returned to India (Pune) as a post-doctoral senior fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies. His articles on San- skrit love poetry have appeared in the Journal of the American Oriental Society (JAOS) and other publications.
