“Painting is all about seeing. Our visual experience is a
combination of what we know and what we expect to see.
It is our past and our present, our memories and our sense of space and place. I take ordinary people, places, and things and paint them in un-ordinary ways. Somewhere between predictability and chaos is a place of interest. What may seem simple is not, and what may seem complex is probably not either. What we think we see, we may not actually see, and what we really see may not be what we want to see.”
