Sanchez has no say-so.
The sign in my kitchen window reads NO SOLICITORS. Maybe it should read NO FUNNY BUSINESS. You try to help someone and look what happens to you instead. Lloyd was my one and only to speak and if I miss anything about him it’s not only what people naturally think. A union of thirty years is not built on infatua- tion, let me tell you. It’s something else for sure.
It was a good day that first day, that day I met E. M. Hunter. It wasn’t one of those days I asked myself why my life couldn’t run even with my husband’s or why, if it couldn’t run even, then at least it could be filled up with the children we wanted. We never had any children on account of a horse fell on Lloyd when he was only sixteen years old.

“Thank you anyways. I’m due in Phoenix. I better get on.”
Even with the coffee aroma, I smell some of Lloyd’s toiletries and the way Lloyd used to smell to me. I nod. “Sure, I understand. You have to see some folks in person.”
“Beg your pardon?”
“It states in your letter,” I say. “It’s right here. I found it in the cushions where you were sleeping. It’s
